Laying the foundations for financial sector adaptation

Approach

Through a consultative, participatory process, we assessed the extent to which climate change and/or gender are integrated into the current financial sector policy and regulatory framework and proposed entry points for the integration of climate, gender and inclusive considerations.

Local organisational capacity for the governance of gender-responsive climate and risk resilience planning and resourcing was assessed using a standardised institutional capacity assessment and gendered adaptation considerations and opportunities for the finance sector which improve climate resilience identified across financial entities of different types including development finance institutions, credit unions, domestic and regional banks.  

Stakeholder workshops with vulnerable communities and/or their representatives, helped to prioritize measures to be taken forwards.

• Capacity needs assessment.

• Gender responsive Financial Sector Adaptation Plans.

• Budgeted Monitoring and Evaluation Framework to track the progress.

• Three concept notes to take the implementation of the Financial Sector Adaptation Plan forwards for funding.
