Future Earth conducted a feasibility study to understand the readiness of government and academic institutions in Ulan Bator to use integrated digital planning tools to support low carbon development.
Funded by the FCO Future Earth Ltd carried out a fact-finding mission, authoring a feasibility study on the current capacity of key stakeholder to adopt digital tools to model natural resource flows through the city and optimise low carbon energy infrastructure planning.
Desk research and snowball triangulation were used to shortlist public, academic and private sector entities likely to be interested in cutting edge digital tools to improve urban infrastructure development and management.
Following a phase of stakeholder outreach, engagement and feedback, the feasibility study was drafted and shared across key entities for verification.
As a result a follow on project was funded by FCO to develop capacity across key public and private sector entities to develop and use digital IOT resource tool to help manage and finance Mongolia's renewable energy transition. See below.
